Location. North Village is the most desirable student village for a reason! You really shouldn't underestimate the power of green space and fresh air. And whilst it may look kinda far out on a map of Bristol, the U1 means your commute is acc easier than the people walking in from West village and the East villagers who have to climb Park Street everyday.

Forced socialisation. Catered accom means that you'll see most of the residents most days at meal times. This makes such a difference, especially in freshers week, when you don't know anyone. Going to dinner is a really low-stakes way to chat with new ppl and figure out who you get along with. In Churchill, you don't just stay in your flat, so you meet people from all over halls - my housemates for this year were in a different block, but we ate every meal together and became close as a result. Uni can get pretty lonely, so having to leave my room and talk to people made such a big difference. We would spend an hour every evening just chatting in the dining hall and it really added structure to my day.

Amenities. Churchill has a library/reading room. For some reason they don't really advertise that on the website. Trust me, a change of location makes a world of difference when you've been studying at your desk all day. Plus, you can go in your PJs and slides (way more casual than the central libraries). There's also regular social spaces, like the JCR and hexagon room with pool tables and a tv.

Catered. I have absolutely no regrets abt being in catered accom. Picture it: it's a grey Friday evening in the middle of February. You've just got back from a 4-6pm seminar and you're absolutely exhausted. In most halls, you'd now have to cook for yourself (find a recipe, use a disgusting shared kitchen, eat a sad little meal, then wash up). BUT not in catered! Instead, you go to the dining hall, where you eat an actual meal. You get to eat with your friends everyday and there's no washing up! All that's included in your rent. You get a roast every Sunday and a fry-up every morning - makes 9ams so much easier. Churchill hashbrowns are next level.

MPQR block has a real community (at least it did last year). It seemed everyone knew each other in that building, which wasn't really the case for the quad blocks. It's more than just small rooms!
