hi there, just wanted to know if a speech and language therapy postgrad can be done after a primary education undergrad. I’ve looked at sheffield but as it’s a russell group uni, i don’t know if a primary education degree is too niche. thank you.

It should be fine. If they don't specify a particular degree, any subject will do. Just make sure you get some shadowing experience with an SLT before you apply. Also, it doesn't matter where you study your degree (the NHS won't care) - it just has to be an HCPC accredited course. Use the NHS course finder to search:
I'm a SLT - my original background was a degree in Politics and then a PGCE and many years primary teaching before I career changed. Never found that that combination of skills stopped me being considered for the masters route and getting interviews - I ended up doing a second undergrad degree as the entry route though just because geographically the course locations worked much better for me.

That’s so interesting that you’ve had an experience working in a primary school and as an SLT. What are your experiences with both jobs? Any pros and cons? What made you turn to SLT? Thank you!

I was pretty burnt out teaching and never really found my niche, so drifted doing supply for a long while - then I had my own kids, one of whom had communication needs which is what got me into exploring the career change.
I work with adults now (Learning Disability) but I really do enjoy the problem solving aspect of it and getting to meet all sorts of people - much more interesting than sitting in a classroom for me!
