College A-level choices that go with games development

Next week I have to decide what 3 A-levels I will be doing at college and I’m still not entirely sure what I should do.

I’m extremely leaning towards games development as it sounds like a fun course that I wouldn’t mind seeking a career in one day.

I’m thinking of picking computer science A level for my second. As although I’ve heard it can be difficult at times I’ve also heard it goes well with games development and looks like it can be enjoyable to do. However I’m not 100% sure as I don’t know how difficult it may end up being and if it will be worth doing over any other A-Levels.

For my third I’m not sure at all. I’ve been told A-level maths would be a good choice as it helps me get into university and again goes well with games development and computer science. However I don’t find it the most fun subject although I am quite good at it, so I don’t mind giving it a try if it is worth it in the long run. I’ve also been told A-level IT would be a good pick for games development and computer science. But I don’t know if that would be worth it.

Any advice is appreciated.
You haven’t actually said what your first choice of A level subject is.

Have you looked at the 'entry requirements' on Uni websites for the sort of course you want to do?
Which A levels subjects are required or 'preferred'?

Games development A-level

Which exam board is that with? I hadn’t realised that there was an A level in games development.

I’m not sure but if it helps it’s technically called digital games production and it says it’s a level 3 qualification

That sounds like a BTEC not an A level.

It would be a good idea to ask your college for the syllabus and course specification for the course. If there is a lot of shared content with computer science then taking both subjects might be a bad idea.
