Transferring universities for the same course

Unfortunately, I was rejected by my firm and insurance choices because I didn't meet their A level requirements. Through Clearing, I was picked up by the University of York.

My A level grades are A*AAA (Maths, FM, CS and Chem) + A in EPQ and I'm looking at CS courses or CS + AI courses.

Now, I'm just assessing all options here. I had a couple of questions regarding the transfer process and was wondering whether you would be able to help in shedding some light on this.

Before making any rash decisions, I will obviously see what it's like at York and whether it's a fit for me. I'm not going to blindly transfer without giving the university the chance it deserves and I am grateful that they accepted me.

So I understand that with the transfer process, I need to contact the universities I'm interested in to see whether they are willing to accept me. Now after contacting them, some of them may make you apply through UCAS and so I was wondering about the following:

1.

With the transfer process, if I'm rejected from all 5 of the universities that I've applied to, do I lose the place I hold at my current institution?

2.

Can I apply earlier than February of first year if I wish to transfer to a different uni? I've been watching a few videos and generally, most people request a transfer in February at the start of the second semester of the first year, but if I were to go for Oxbridge (I'm not), would I not have to submit my application before the early applicant deadline and so this means submitting my transfer application in early?

To transfer into second year of a course you will normally need to meet these 3 criteria:
1. meet the standard year 1 entry requirements
2. Have a close match on learning outcomes for year 1 modules in both courses
3. Pass year 1 with a good average grade.

If you’ve not met the standard entry requirements for year 1 entry then a transfer into year 2 isn’t going to be an option.
