Is there any point to joining the Aber facebook groups?

Hi, Starting uni here in september and I want to make sure I dont miss out on anything and start a few steps behind everyone else.
I've noticed that the Aber uni website link a few times to seperate facebook groups that they prompt you to join, but I've never really used Facebook and don't plan on starting.
My question is, Will I have to make an account to join these groups to get important information, or will I be fine by getting info elsewhere?

I follow the main Aber Uni facebook page, but I can't exactly see any useful facebook groups, but I have joined some random social ones but my request are currently pending to join.
