the uni-ey bit in bristol where uni of is is a lovely area, up in clifton, very leafy. very hilly though if you arent used to that - bristol is a city of hills (we got the steepest street in the country in Totterdown) and Clifton is a reflection of that. its a city uni not a campus one so while it doesnt exactly have a campus some of the areas are quite nice, including the downs which if you look up are a large green area of parkland. Having two unis, bristol is a very student-y city and has a young, artsy, vibe, leading into your second concern

bristol has nightlife, idk much about it but ik prism is one of the main clubs. the harbourside also really comes alive in the evening, especially in the summer

anywhere has lots of places to travel, i would say bristol aint exactly central but it is the regional capital of the south west. not far from bristol is bath, which is quite famous with tourists for its georgian architecture and roman baths. fun fact about bath all the buildings (or the majority at least) are built with bath stone, theres like a law that says you have to build them all in that.
4.
transport wise there are coaches and trains. the train station at temple meads is gorgeous and its part of the gwr train company? line? section? idk, basically it goes through bristol from london and down to the south west. idk much about trains (only ever been to weston super mare from temple meads) but you may have to get a train to london and then change trains to go elsewhere.

yup bristol airport has flights, idk how good they are as while it is the biggest airport in the south west, isnt huge and has only one runway, although think thats similar to many airports in the country. it runs flights to tourist destinations like those. i will note that many people i know end up driving down to london to gatwick or heathrow to catch flights instead as they have better flights but it just really depends yk?
2.
accom in bristol is not cheap! and also has a shortage oof, i think thats still a thing or atleast it was a year or two ago. you may have a different experience as idk if since youre an exchange semester student idk if the uni is contractually oblidged to find you accom, but despite there constantly being more and more private student accom built (feels like the whole city centre is student accom, and some shops are gonna be knocked down and replaced with student accom, including a current major shopping centre (galleries) and car park, there is apparently a big shortage with issues tm. that private accom is mainly in the city centre i think, and just be aware that it is therefore right over and above very busy cars, roads, fumes, yk.

pros: location, city vibes, student vibes, uni as a whole, you can get a train or coach or car down into devon and cornwall which both have gorgeous countryside and beaches and stuff, also the street art, we have 11 bankseys here, there are walking tours if you want to go round them all as he is originally from bristol. oh and we have a road called "cheer's drive" which is iconic as its like a local phrase some bristolians say when getting off the bus and thanking the driver
•
cons: prices, accom, location from a travelling to other cities perspective
