Uni asking for tuition payment before SAAS has accepted my application?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently set to enrol on a postgraduate programme at a Scottish university for a postgraduate PGDE course. I've applied to SAAS to fund the course, which I'm eligible for. They asked for some further information, which I've provided.

My course starts next week and I need to make my first payment to the university on Monday, and SAAS hasn't covered it yet. I'd been in touch with SAAS, and they said they've received all my documents and all looks good but they're just really busy this time of year to process everything, so it's taking a bit longer.

Naturally I'm a bit unsure now how to proceed. Before my course starts they do expect payment which I understand. If I end up having to pay the university, and SAAS comes through for me for the tuition later on, is it possible to get that money I paid refunded?

I will be contacting both university and SAAS again on Monday (both have been tricky to get a hold of) to ask these questions as they'll know it best, but wanted to see if anyone on here has had experience of this?

Just forward the email you got from SAAS to the uni finance department ( or whoever is asking you to pay the fees). They probably just want proof that you’ve applied and the money is coming.

Did they get the problem fixed because I'm also having a similar problem with you, I haven't received my full funds and my university is asking me to register which includes paying the tuition fee.
