Only if you're a handsome guy you can have good looking girls. And it's fair to be honest, if you reject ugly girls why should girls date guys they don't find attractive?

I have the exact same thoughts. In fact, I like reading books about relationships but often get so overwhelmed with emotion that I start crying because I want that.
For me, I am an extremely sensitive person who has difficulty approaching people. I then tend to get very suspicious and hypervigilant. I really want to be extremely close to someone special, but worry a lot.
I have a few books on relationships which I researched. 'Attached' really stood out to me, as the section on anxious attachment essentially describes everything I do. And 'Find love' was the reason I (after an extremely traumatic flashback) began to put as much effort as I could into getting my C-PTSD treated, just to make myself easier to be with.
I don't feel I am ready to really start looking yet- I haven't gotten to that part of the book yet.
But just last week, I had a very long Teams call with a girl from my research group, who was trying to help me with deciding what modules to take next year. I liked her for some time, because she is an incredibly smart and talented young woman, and strangely is also the most beautiful I have ever encountered. But after that call, I went ahead and asked her out. She agreed.
