when does clearing actually end? university of reading

Online it says that clearing ends on 21st October 2024 but on the reading university the last date for clearing hotline is show on Monday 19 August 9am-5pm so would I still be able to use clearing for university of reading after 19 august? or is that the last deadline?

I suspect 19th August is the point at which Reading has decided that either (1) it will have filled all the places it wants to fill, or (2) it will have reached the point of diminishing returns and will just accept that it might be a few people short of where it wanted to be, but is happy to accept that.

21st October is probably the data that Ucas will disable the cleaning functionality for the 2023/24 application cycle. But, given that 21st October will be well into term-time, I suspect most universities will have stopped accepting clearing applications well before that.

Good evening @ufnwufno

It's great to hear you are thinking of studying at Reading University.

The clearing hotlines are still open and will open at 9 a.m. tomorrow. You can find the contact details here, alongside the courses that are available and their entry grades.

The clearing is open for the foreseeable future with no dedicated end time; clearing usually continues until most courses are full; here is a link for the most frequently asked clearing questions; this may help answer any questions you have.

I hope this helps.

All the best
