LGBTQ+ at University of Leicester?

Hi everyone!
I’m starting at university of Leicester this September to do an undergraduate in psychology. I don’t know much about the city and I don’t know anyone who’s going. Does anyone know whether the city or the university has any LGBTQ+ friendly places or how the uni is with queer people? I don’t really know whether this makes sense lol

Hello 🙂 It's Rachel here - Student Recruitment Officer at The University of Leicester. Thank you for your message 🙂

Leicester is a super LGBTQ+ friendly city. There are many gay bars, pubs and restaurants. Leicester hosts many drag shows too in the city. As for the university, we are a very inclusive space. There are gender neutral bathrooms and LGBTQ+ spaces including liberation rooms and safe spaces. As well, to represent students in the LGBTQ community there are paid and voluntary positions to raise student concerns (Liberation Officer, Trans Officer, LGBTQ Officer, Womens Officer).

As a university, we are always looking for further ways we can support and our student union works hard to create this inclusive environment.

Hope this helps and we looking forward to seeing you on campus soon 🙂

Best Wishes,

Rachel.

Very lgbtq+ friendly city , having studied there and graduated. You have multiple bars and a club but all welcome in every place! Don’t be worried at all
