The Student Room Group

University of York, Freshers 2024

Hi everyone!

My name is Eliza, I'm going to York to study Law in September, and I am hoping to connect with people on here before term starts. I've been allocated to Vanbrugh College. Where has everyone been allocated? What courses are people studying? How is everyone feeling ahead of moving-in day?

My son is doing law at York too , he’ll be in David Kato . I’ve suggested he gets an account on student room to connect with others at York, good luck !

I look forward to meeting you too! I'm really excited. I think because it's something new to me, it's immediately more interesting. A levels have taken the fun out of learning for me, what with trying trying to get the right grades and all. So I'm hoping I'll be able to love learning again 😭 what about you?

Yeah I know what you mean, I kind of lost the enjoyment at the end 😂 Although I was lucky enough to study law at A-level which was really interesting because it was what I wanted to do! So I'm looking forward to going more in depth

Oh that's so cool! My sixth form didn't have Law as an A Level option, I probably would have taken it if I could have. I did Literature, R.E and Drama, what other subjects did you do?

The list thing is so real. I have multiple little lists of things I think I'll need and I keep adding to them lol. I cant wait to meet new people honestly and to see what the course is like

Ooh nice. I would have picked psychology but it was oversubscribed (my school wasn't very well funded lmao)

Yeah, I think most of the things on my list I'm going to buy when I'm there.

Also, I think for now, I'm going to wait a while before I get a job, because I personally don't know what my schedule will be like. I'd like to join some societies and participate in events and things as well. And I need to see what kind of jobs are available as well . I was thinking of doing tutoring online though, when I've got a better idea of how much time I'd have on my hands.
