Funding for a pre-registration MSc in Nursing as my third degree

Currently considering returning to university to complete a 2 yr pre-registration MSc in Nursing(Adult) in order to qualify as a nurse. I already have an BSc honours degree in Chemistry 1991 and an MPharm integrated Masters degree from 2007 which i still have an outstanding Type 1 loan.
Am I correct that the nursing degree is an exempt course and so I would still receive full financial support for course fees and maintenance via SFE undergraduate route? Many thanks.

Hi Paul,

Yes, nursing is exempt from previous study rules as long as you're not already registered in the field you're looking to study. Thanks, Jason

Many thanks Jason. So to confirm I would have access to full tuition fee loans, maintenance loan and the £5k NHS LSF for the 2 year duration of the degree?

Hi Paul. Can you please confirm the full name of the course and the University you are looking to study at? Thanks, David

Hi Paul, The funding would be an undergraduate application you'd apply and yes, this would assess you for the fees and maintenance loan. Thanks, Jason

Yes. So being an exempt course when i submit my application I will receive full support for the two years for tuition and maintenance loans. The exact level of maintenance loan being dependent on my income of course. Correct?

Yes - the loan is based on your parent(s) or partners earnings and this will determine how much you receive. We wouldn't use your income as you're the student. Thanks, Jason

Thanks Paul, then you'd be assessed for the maximum amount of maintenance loan once the application is processed. Thanks, Jason

One last thing please Jason if I may. How much is that for a course starting Spring 25 in the academic year 24/25?

Hi Paul,

If you want to use the calculator here putting 0 beside household income https://www.gov.uk/student-finance-calculator then this should give you an estimated amount. This may be slightly higher depending on the extra weeks of your course as its likely outwith the 30 weeks and 3 days of a regular course. Thanks, Jason
