Rejected for Sudent finance

My daughter completed a year at dance university. However, she decided it wasn't for her. 2 years later she has been accepted for a year course at NTU for ambulance technician. However, she received a letter this morning stating as she is doing a qualification at equivalent level she won't be eligible for following Fee support, maintenance loan or grant. Dance course was HNC. New course is also HNC. Does this mean she won't get her tuition fee loan? Also can I appeal the decision? I've attached letter

My daughter asked if she could leave her first course due to mental issues. However, at the time she was so confused and was virtually forced to complete the course. Reluctantly she agreed.. She now knows the condition due to diagnosis and has ADHD. Funding for current course DSA has been approved. However, as we are unable to pay tuition fees as the loan has been rejected due to being same level of qualification. Daughter is devastated. Any advice would be greatly appreciate.

Yes she did gain qualification. Through course work. But stopped all practical and left early in May instead of June or July. Thanks

HNC in performing arts. New course also HNC as ambulance technician. Her ambition is to become a Paramedic. However, as she doesn't have a science A level. This course is first step to become a Paramedi as once complete she will have the option to take a level 6 in Paramedic Science. Thanks.

Hi there,

As the course the student wants to study is the same level of qualification that they all ready hold then we will not provide funding for this course. We do not offer any other funding and I would advise she speaks to the university to see if they know of any funding available.

Thanks, Drew

We have a teams meeting with university finance tomorrow. Not sure what they can offer though as we don't have the money and my daughter won't be earning until the couse is complete. It's a shame it wasn't highlighted earlier. Thanks for your help though.

Daughter has just received her induction letter for NTU and it is Certificate of higher education ambulances technician practice FT. So it's not HNC like previous course. Any idea if this could change finance options?

Hi there. Sorry, the HNC and Certificate of Higher Education qualification levels are the same so this would still result in the application being made ineligible. Thanks, David
