Private Candidate Applying For Uni

Hi there!

I am looking to sit psychology, sociology & law a level exams next Summer (2025). I am also hoping to be attending university that same year, dependant on my grades.

When going through UCAS, it asks for a referee and predicted grades. As I will be studying myself due to affordability, how can I predict my grades? And who do I use as a referee?

For background, I moved to Scotland from Wales in 2019 & studied a HNC in Animal Care, a subject I no longer want to pursue as a career. I can't change subjects because I won't get my courses funded if I drop below a level I've already studied at before in Scotland (hence why I'm choosing to do A Levels - somewhat easier for me).

I haven't been to college since 2022. High school since 2021. I feel like I can't really count on previous teachers and lecturers for a reference.

Any help is appreciated : )

Also, any tips on how to make my ucas application more appealing? I can really sell myself and show my ambition for a career change. I want to study psychology at Strathclyde but because of a lack of studying that subject before I feel like it might hold me back but a lot of my education has been impacted my circumstantial difficulties in my life.
