foundation year

I heard foundation years add an extra cost. So if my course without a foundation year is like around £9000 then how much would a foundation year be?

The extra cost is that you pay for an extra year of tuition fees. University in England is £9,250 per year, so instead of paying that for three years, you'd be paying that for four years.
Plus it’s an extra year studying and not earning plus additional maintenance loans and accommodation costs for that year.

If you switch universities after the FY then it uses your gift year of funding and means you wouldn’t get a tuition fee loan if you needed to resit a year

It clearly costs more than just resitting your A levels - which is usually a better option.

Note FY fees for classroom based subjects will have a cap imposed on their maximum fee from 2025 entry.

4 years of SFE funding is only the limit for a standard 3 yr BA/BSc course. A student taking a BA/BSc with integrated FY would be entitled to up to 5 years of SFE funding.
