When do first year students find out if they’ve gotten into student accommodation?

Hi,

I’ve just got into my course at QUB after finishing my A Levels. I applied for accommodation at QUB in May but I don’t know if I’ve been accepted into the accommodation yet because the relevant QUB website just says they’ve received my application. Would I find out when the work week starts or should I call QUB to ask about my application?

This page on their web site says that they don't make any attempt to allocate those who have applied for accommodation (which is guaranteed, by the way) to individual buildings / flats / rooms until A level results day, and that this process may take a while.

"Students will be allocated accommodation when they have been accepted onto a course at Queen’s University Belfast. Allocations will commence on 15 August 2024. We have many applications to process, and we would appreciate your patience during this time."

So you may have to wait a week or so to hear from them. Ensure that they have an email address to which you will continue to have access (i.e. not a school / college email address) and that you check the junk folder regularly. I say this as once they allocate you accommodation you have just two days to accept it.
