Big 4 Grad Scheme

Hey guys. I’ve started a Grad Scheme at the Big 4 a few weeks ago, and I’m already 100% regretting it. I really really dislike the job and I am getting really emotionally hurt because of it. Now before anyone says ‘give the job a chance’- yes, I will do that. However, it is also true that you pretty much completely often know if you like a job or not, and I am certain that this is a job that I really don’t like. Well, how do I know? Well, because of so many seniors etc that I’ve spoken to- it’s known for being a boring and not very skilled job, even at higher levels. Of course, I understand that at the beginning you’re always given boring tasks. But my point is, that the job ITSELF is boring and menial and not very skilled and looked down upon.

Anyways, where am I getting at? I just need some advice… what shall I do? I would love to apply to other grad roles but I am scared it would look bad if I have only stayed in a job for such a little amount of time. Would employers care? Is it worth it to apply or nah? What about lateral moves to other teams I’m more interested in? Is this potentially a possibility within the Big 4? (Please don’t give HR answers. Anecdotal answers would be nice).

Thanks all!
Hi, I'm not an expert in moving around jobs haha but i've done 2 placements and done 'normal' jobs and is currently looking for a graduate role (engineering/science not finance) but I honestly wouldn't worry about this at all. Based on family and friends it's actually very common now to move around jobs and it doesn't look bad at all and it's not as if you've been hopping from company to company. In case an interviewer asks (they won't) you can easily just make up an answer saying wanted to move closer to home or ideally something about the role you really like and want to get into. So firstly employers will not care 🙂 I do reccomend finding a job first before leaving and if you are convinced the role doesn't get better and it's not skilled then leave when you can.

Aside from that I can't really comment on the big4, I do have friends in this industry and the big4 but it's all jargon I don't understand haha. I'm sure companies are fine with people moving laterally perhaps if you speak to someone or message them on teams if they are in another department and enquire more. I'm sure they would be happy to help.

Sorry if this wasnt the answer you were looking for and for any typos but the one question I can answer based on things i've heard from actual employers, companies and my friends family it's perfectly fine to move around it's actually the norm now. good luck

Hi

Which service line are you in? Were you to apply for other grad schemes what might these be?
