Lancaster Uni

I'm just about to start y13 and am really thinking about applying to Lancaster for Earth and Environmental Sciences. Just wanted to know a bit more about the colleges, which one would be best for this kind of subject, how do you decide which one to choose?
Also is the accommodation nice/a good standard and is Lancaster an overall nice place to live?

Hi @ca.tlin !

A great question! Lancaster University is made up of nine colleges- 8 undergrad colleges and 1 post-grad college. When it comes to choosing which college to pick, it comes down to your own personal preferences and what is the right decision for you. Every college has their own bar and common room so there's plenty of places to socialise, the undergrad colleges also have their own netball and football teams so you can compete against the other colleges too and every college has a College Advisory Team to help/support students' wellbeing.

A question to ask yourself when deciding which college to choose would be:

Where do you want to live on campus?- because in First Year you will live in your college's accommodation and some college accommodation is closer to the centre of campus/might be closer to your subject's building

Here is a link to all of the colleges at Lancaster Uni: https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/about-us/colleges/

One of the reasons I chose Lancaster was because of the collegiate system.

With regards to accommodation, like I mentioned above, in First Year you will be living with people in the same college as you. Here is a link to the accommodation we offer at Lancaster: https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/accommodation/undergraduate/ . I would really suggest visiting Lancaster at one of our open days as we offer accommodation tours so you see what its like in person.

Our next Open Day is Saturday 14th September, we look forward to hopefully welcoming you to our campus!
