Durham honouring offer following a level marking review

Hi

My daughter sadly didn’t meet her firm offer (for Law LLB) for Durham. Some papers are currently in for priority review (one will definitely increase as it’s a clear clerical error/unmarked). Does anyone have any experience or advice on Durham honouring their original offer please (I assume for 2025 now)? She called them on Thursday and was given a clearing email address in order to send the results but it doesn’t seem like a clearing issue? She’s going to call admissions tomorrow, now that the dust has settled.

Thank you in advance.

Hiya,

From my understanding, if the applicants paper are remarked and the remark results meet the conditions of the offer + you send evidence of it before 31 August 2024 then the application will be reinstated for 2024 or 2025 is there is no availability. You can find this information at Next Steps For Offer Holders - Durham University in the 'EXAM BOARD APPEALS AND REMARKS' section 🙂 Evidence of the remarks which meet the offer should be sent to the admissions team at [email protected]

I hope this helps!

Thanks so much for this Ghala, that’s very helpful.
Does anyone know historically whether an upgrade following remarking is likely to result in an offer for 2024 or a deferred offer for 2025?

What happened historically is not necessarily going to tell you anything for this year, as that would have been dependent on the previous application cycle cohort sizes and yield. It's also likely to vary between courses anyway in any given year.

Hello

We’re still waiting for one of her exams (language oral) to be looked at unfortunately, so no joy yet. I’m starting to feel like they’ve lost the recording! Good luck with getting your grade evidence submitted, hope all goes well.

Don't give up hope, my son got a regrade upwards, was offered a place next year and then got a revised offer for this year completely out of the blue after we had already been to see his insurance choice and he had decided just to go there instead. Keep hassling the school and once you get the mark, if it means she makes the offer then keep chasing Durham until you get a decision, their admin is absolutely shocking. Good luck.

Could your school/ college contact Durham as I presume they’d know that your grade had been changed. Congrats! My son’s grade has not changed on SQA website yet either. Good luck! You deserve your place

Also what’s the point of priority upgrade if you can’t get any blinking evidence!

thank you so much! I have been on and off the phone today and have been told my grade should have updated on ucas today for durham to see but honestly the durham admin have been awful, could not grasp as a Scottish student my situation was different. Has your son managed to confirm his grade yet with them, good luck to him!

The SQA has a lot to answer for too. We are really rooting for you, we haven’t been able to update them either.
