UCAT Experience

Hii! I wanted to know if anyone who has been scoring below average in medify mocks has been able to get a good score in the actual UCAT? I'm asking mainly due to nerves for my exam tomorrow... any tips for test day will be greatly appreciated!

heyy i did the UCAT last year and i wouldn't worry at all if i was you!! medify mocks scale you down a lot since it's often more difficult than the real thing. i know lots of people who were averaging around 2500-2600 in the mocks and they got much higher in the real thing, with some people getting 3000+, so don't worry!

What mock and SJT results are you getting? Best if you could break down. All the best for tomorrow

Thank you so much! Btw my medify mock averages are
VR - 574
DM - 627
QR - 590
AR - 630
SJT - band 2
My strongest section is AR, which comes down a lot in medify mocks because the patterns seem so hard compared to the practice questions. QR has always been my weakest section . These averages are quite low so I hope the actual UCAT isn't as weird as some of the medify mocks I've done!

Thank you!!!!!! This has filled me with a lot of hope, may I ask how you found the QR section last year if you remember? Since this is my weakest section ;'D

My ucat is on Saturday. When I was using medify i was scoring low scores but I found it better to use a conversion table. Like on VR I was getting 25/44 and it marked it at 530-560 whereas on medentry and conversion sites that’s near 600. They scale it down a lot. Also good luck!

Also can you let me know how QR goes as it is probably my weakest too😂😂. Thanks

You certainly will be able to improve on QR. My weakest section is DM at the moment, averaging 680.

I am at the moment, keeping momentum in reviewing my wrong questions so as not to repeat the same mistakes when it appear again. My UCAT is towards the end of Aug.

You can do it!

it was also one of my weakest sections😭 but i've learnt that doing well in it wasn't really about your mathematical ability, it's more so testing your ability to quickly read/eyeball information, make estimates and know how to prioritise questions in time. i had the tendency to get stuck on a question and not want to move on if i had made some minimal progress and that was why i didn't do well in it. my top tip would be if you find yourself spending more than 40 seconds on a question, take an estimated guess, flag it and come back to it later if you have time. good luck, try to relax for the rest of today and tomorrow and go into the test believing you can ace it because you're definitely more than capable!! <3

Heyy I finished my UCAT and I got 620, honestly some of the question stems were dead easy so don't stress too much on QR 🙂 I think this section was do-able!

Thank you! I got 2800 which I'm so so happy with since my mock averages have been 2300-2400, I'll list my mock scores below and then my actual UCAT.

Mock 1 - 2290
Mock 2 - 2180
Mock 3 - 2250
Mock 4 - 2310
Mock 5 - 2330
Mock 6 - 2530 (My highest omg)
Mock 7 - 2440
Mock 8 -2360

Actual UCAT: 2800
VR - 630
DM - 660
QR - 620
AR - 890
SJT - band 2

From the exam, I feel that VR had very short passages but I ran out of time.
DM was honestly shocking...nothing like how Medify was tbh... I think the official ucat practice questions are more representative.
QR had some easy question stems and a few hard ones (personally)
AR is my strongest section and the patterns were much easier than the Medify patterns, I even had a few minutes at the end after completion.
SJT I think was a little bit more subjective than Medify questions, especially with the Most/Least appropriate questions at the end. This was all from my experience so the exam may be different for you!
As well, the font size in the exam was much larger in the exam. I think that's all I can think of, I don't mind answering any questions!
