Starting adult nursing

i have just been accepted onto the adult nursing course starting in September. This will be my second attempt in the first year, and so I have to pay my own tuition fees this time as saas will not pay them; wondering how I go about making a plan with the uni about paying in instalments and what I might be looking at there. i am excited to start but worried as this is my second attempt, and looking for advice on how to be the most prepared I can be, what I might need andthings like that, just generally any advice anyone can give me

Is this your second attempt at nursing specifically? Will you getting the 5,000 bursary? I ask only because as far as I know if you’ve done a previous degree/attempted a year in a degree that’s not health related apparently there is still funding for nursing? Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can shed further light in the specifics of those stipulations. I assume you’ve probably looked at all the options and avenues but I am saying this just in case you haven’t or aren’t aware of this. Xx hello btw! I am also starting nursing this September and I’m so nervous.

Yeah so I did the first tear of nursing at another university already which is why saas won't pay for it this year, I am getting the nursing bursary though, it's just a bit complex really, I am also very excited and nervous lol

Ah ok well at least the bursary will cover part of the tuition. And from next year you will get funding. Do you have a part time job/savings?? Working as a HCA on bank could be beneficial for getting the money and experience. Are you able to apply for a credit card or bank loan to cover the fee’s upfront and then pay it off when you can?? The finances is going to add hardship to your course on the plus side you have the benefit of repeating stuff you learned previously which will reduce the overall first year stress. 🙂

So I do actually work as a csw on the bank, I'm looking into loans and stuff but doesn't seem like a feasible option for me for credit reasons, I think it's gonna just have to be a hard year financially

If you can persist through this year, you will fly it the next few. Feel free to pm me as I will be muddling through the year much the same as you. It can be really helpful to bounce ideas off people who are in a similar stage in their education. Sorry I’ve been no help with the finance questions but with the year being under 9 grand, and your bursary being 5,000 you only have half to pay plus personal finances. Do nights and weekends and you will get more bang for your buck. Hoping your personal costs are low?? But hey beans are brain food 😛 beans and toast for 9 months won’t be too bad : P and a can of tuna isn’t too pricey. If nothing else you can try live off beans and tuna and eggs for as much of the year as possible. If need be, don’t be afraid to rely on food banks so that you can keep your earnings for bills etc. You got this! It won’t be easy but it will be worth it 🙂
