Hi there,

As a first-year student at the University of Reading, your timetable will depend on the course you're studying, but I can give you a general idea based on my experience.

Lectures and seminars can start as early as 9am which is typically the earliest time a lesson will be scheduled. Your timetable will likely vary each week and it may include a mix of lectures, seminars and workshops, with some days busier than others. You may even have a day free if your busier on another day but it all depends on the subject and the optional modules you pick (if you pick any). 🙂

You will receive your official timetable closer to the start of term and you will be able to access it online. You will always have the support of your personal tutor and course co-ordinators if you need any timetable advice or any adjustments made.

If you have any more questions then feel free to reach out!

All the best,

Millie 🙂

Good evening @Anonymous

It's great to hear you are thinking of coming to the Univeristy of Reading.

When students arrive on campus, they will be instructed to the centre of Whiteknights campus ( student ambassadors will guide you); you will then start enrolment.

During the enrolment process, you will enter the Palmer building and be greeted by more univeristy ambassadors. You will then need proof of your if (usally a passport), and then your campus card is printed. Every student is given a lanyard with there campus cards.

You have the option to upload your photograph online during your application confirmation. This is on our RISIS applications platform, which is given to students. However, there is also the option to have your photograph taken when you enrol; I opted for this method.

During welcome week, there is a range of activities that take place both via the Univeristy and for students off campus in the town centre. You will have the option to attend lots of activities such as the freshers fairs (society, sports, careers and local shops stalls). There is also a range of free food and drink and lots of taster sessions to get involved in. There is an app where you can see the timetable of events, it is called UoR welcome app, and will have lots more information in the first few weeks of September. I recommend downloading this app, as it helps you know what is happening.

All the best,
Ella
