transfering after a FY

Hi people.

so on results day i achieved CDE* (* - possible change due to remark), I was then entered into clearing and ended up at uni studying Mechanical Engineering with a Science Foundation Year

I don’t really imagine myself spending 4 years at this university, is there at all any chance that after my FY i could transfer to another institution or will that just be a waste of time.

Before anyone mentions resitting, do not. resitting will destroy my mental health and just cause many issues for me

one of the universities that i looked at transferring to is Lancaster, i emailed the HoA for the Engineering school to test the waters to see if its possible

is there any other decent university that will consider this?
Not sure where you’re thinking of applying, but Huddersfield Uni have places in clearing.

Hi @Liquid_Porg
While I can't speak for the engineering department itself I definitely know that transferring to a degree at Lancaster is possible after a foundation year, as I have a friend who's been able to successfully do it. I would also recommend you email or call our admissions team as they can give you much more specialist advice on how or if this transfer will be possible. You can email them at [email protected] or call them at +44 (0)1524 592028 .
Let me know if you have anymore questions

would it be best to email the department directly or just regular UG Admissions?
Hi, my advice would be to email admissions since they'll have the most technical knowledge of how situations like this work, they'll be the most able to sign post you towards places as well.

Hi,

You should be able to transfer to another university after completing your first year. I know YSJ accepts foundation year transfers, and I would imagine this would be the case for a lot of other universities.

You could ring or email universities that your interested in, to see whether they do or not. It may also say on the entry requirements on each universities website.

Have you thought about doing a different foundation course but at a different uni, if you do feel like the one your currently at is a good fit for you?
