Uni packing

I have a random question but how many boxes/bags did you guys have for move in😭 I have like 8 plastic storage boxes FULL. 2 with kitchen stuff, 1 with bathroom stuff, 1 with bed linen, 2 with bedroom stuff, 1 with toiletries etc (my mum bless her has done me a box to set me up for the first month with that’s stuff) and then I’ll have a suitcase with clothes. Like is that normal?? I feel like I have too much but also I won’t need to get anything when I arrive, i already have decor stuff and everything idk😭

Loads! A car full. Your list of boxes sounds quite a small amount (unless you arrive by train) but it does depend on the size of the storage boxes? The important question is what size is your room? (and you can normally ditch the things you don't need to go back home again within a few weeks) Don't forget the cake!

Hi @Basically Tisha,

This sounds like a normal amount, I managed to fill my dads van when I moved to university 😂
It also sounds like you will have everything you need. I'm not sure how big your boxes are but one thing I would consider is you usually don't get a lot of space in kitchen cupboards so don't do what my flat mate did and bring a 4 person family set of all cutlery and crockery.

I hope the move in to uni goes well,

Thank you!! Haha yes I have more kitchen stuff than needed really so I’ll probably only take half and then I have more at home to bring after Christmas etc if I loose/break things.
Thank you so much!

Hi there,
It's tempting to take lots to uni but from experience, I'd say that less is more. In terms of what to pack, stick to the basics and I'd recommend buying most of what you need once you arrive at uni.

Hope this helps!

You might want to consider a mattress topper as most uni mattresses are not the best

I have loads 🤣 I did most of my shopping before so that I don’t have to shop when I get there (like you did? My mum also did exactly the same omg 🥹)… it’s definitely normal, my brother had even more than me when he moved 😭🤣
