Uni Application

Hello,

I am an international student currently studying A-Levels and wish to study Law and I am worried about the state of my application concerning top Russel group Unis and whether i should apply due to my IGCSE where i got A*AAAAABBCC I am not gonna explain the reason behind them due to embarrassment, but recently i sat my AS exams in Yr 12 which i got all As and am predicted all A*s at A-Level.

I was looking for advice on whether i can still get into Unis such as KCL, LSE and UCL and how much these results IGCSE results will affect my application especially if i get a high LNAT score paired with my A-Levels.
Its not like my school is internationally known for strong IGCSE results but i would like clarity as most posts i see only talk about GCSEs thank you

Students generally like to overstate the importance of GCSEs. For most courses, you just need to clear a minimum GCSE requirement and you're good to go. Your GCSEs are admittedly not spectacular but they aren't bad by any rate, and you have performed very well in your AS and have even better predicted grades. You will certainly have a chance in getting into UCL, LSE and their likes

Hey @AspiringLawsStu 👋

Universities are much more concerned with your AS Levels and A-Levels as opposed to GCSE grades.

Whilst GCSE grades are important, their focus will be on AS/A-Levels. The main GCSE grades which they will focus on are usually Maths and English - how did you perform in these GCSEs?

Best of luck with your university application.

Hi there,

Most universities don't particularly mind what grades you get at GSCE but are rather more focused on the grades you achieve in your AS and A levels as @WrexhamUniReps mentioned above.

I know at YSJ we just need our students to have 3 GCSEs including maths and English for majority of our courses however, we are more focused on the A level results or their equivalent that students receive.

I hope this helps and good luck with your university journey 🙂
