Is it worth taking a year out to re-apply?

I have just got my a level results back at A*A*A* in Politics, Maths and Economics and I am wondering if i should take a year out and re-apply to maybe what is considered better universities next year. I was predicted three As and subsequently have got into Liverpool university to study Finance and Data Analytics but I don't know what my probability is of gettting into better universities such as london ones (LSE, UCL, Imperial etc) to study similar courses to do with Finance and data science or statistics?

Your results are a reflection of your extremely hard work. There is literally no better results than the ones you got. If you genuinely believe that there is something out there that is better suited for you, and you're not just thinking about the "prestige" of the unis you will be applying to, then go for it. I am in a similar position as you and I keep trying to convince myself to put in this extra bit of effort this year to reapply and achieve my dreams.

Hi TomDavey1,

Congratulations on your results and well done for all the hard work you have put in to achieve them. If what you want to take a year out and re-apply to see if you would be able to get into a different university than I would suggest doing so if that is something that you would like to do. I would suggest taking some time and thinking about your options and if you are thinking about taking a year out email they university which you currently hold an offer with and maybe defer your place. I would also suggest maybe giving them a call as well to talk about your options and see what they would suggest you to do as well.

I hope this helps and good luck with your university journey 😊
