Is a remark worth it

I am 14! (Yes I know a lot) marks of an A in my a level pshycology paper but I have consistently gotten As (never gotten below) throughout my sixth form experience. If I get the marks I’ll get into my firm choice, is this insane or could it happen ?

Hey @Frolly1g 👋

I am sorry to hear that you didn't achieve an A in your A-level Psychology paper.

I understand how disappointing it must be given that you were consistently achieving As. However, if I'm honest, 14 marks is quite a high number of marks, and I think it would be relatively unlikely for this to go up to an A after a re-mark.

Miracles do occur, however, so if you want to gain some reassurance, go ahead and get it remarked.

Another option, which I would probably choose, is to perhaps re-take the exam in the hope that you will gain a place at your firm university next year. It is clear that you have the potential to gain an A.

Hi,

I am sorry to hear that you didn't achieve an A on your paper, What grades did you need to meet you offer?
Although like the Wrexham uni rep has said, miracles do happen, it would be unlikely to get 14 marks higher, with a remark.

Have you thought about going through clearing? What course were you applying for?

Hi Frolly1g,

I'm sorry that you didn't quite achieve the grade that you would like in you A level Psychology.

As it has been mentioned above 14 marks is quite far off a grade A therefore it is highly unlikely that if you are remarked your grade will move to an A. Although throughout your sixth form experience you never received below an A it could be as simple as you were having an off day and the exam didn't go as well as you had hoped which unfortunately is the case for many.

However, with all that being said if it will reassure you getting it remarked and give you a piece of mind than go ahead and get it remarked otherwise I would just leave it be. Another option is that you could resit the exam but again there might not be any guarantee that you will achieve a grade A as it again could depend on the exam and how you are feeling on the day.

I would suggest think about what you want and if it is important for you to get it remarked but also think about your other options for example you could apply to another university through clearing if you are unsure about your insurance choice.

I hope this helps and good luck with your university journey.
