Note taking device for hard of hearing

Hi, I’m starting in September and I wear hearing aids and sometimes get muddled between two words that sound the same.
I heard if I apply for disability finance I might be able to get a electronic note taking device which could dramatically help me.
I’ve left applying to the last minute and I was hoping to buy one.
If anyone knows what sort they use/brand and where to get one that that would be great
Thankyou

You should have asked for the disabled student allowance when you did your student loan package. It’s not impossible to do it now or even later but I very much doubt that you will get the equipment through before the start of the academic year. You will be asked to have a needs assessment interview where you discuss your problems and they propose equipment and software, and you can state what you think will be helpful, whether that be a Bluetooth device associated with your hearing devices so that you get the lecturers voice directly to your aids, or a voice to text device to help you take notes. Once the assessment has been made and approved they will put you in contact with a supplier. If you buy before this stage you will not have the costs covered by DSA so I advise that you log into your SFE account and request DSA. as soon as possible.
