UCLan medical sciences to medicine MBBS

Hi guys!
Would you recommend I do the foundation year to get on to the medical school or should I take a gap year? I got ABB at A level and I'm really confused lol.
Is there anyone on her who actually did this?

HI Nadi!

This is a great question and something a lot of people are asking about!

Our foundation entry medical sciences isn't a guaranteed route into medicine but it is a route. It would work as follows if you started in September 2024:

Sept 2024 - Start Medical Sciences Foundation Entry
October 2024 - Apply via UCAS for MBBS
2024-2025 - If you are successful in getting through to interviews, sit the interview (and smash it!)
Sept 2025 - Start MBBS if you were successful at interview and met the conditions of your offer.
Sept 2025 - If unsuccessful, continue on the Medical Sciences degree

It is totally up to you on whether you would take a gap year and resit your alevels or whether you would prefer to try this route!

I hope this clears it up for you !

Hi Rebecca ,
Does that mean I can apply to other med schools if I do the UCAT this year ?

Hi,

It would be up to each individual medical school!

So I am right in thinking that I wouldn’t need to sit the UCAT in the transfer from medical science to medicine? Also, please could I ask how many people are successful in getting a place in the MBBS from the medical science?
Thank you for your time
