SFE maintenance loan UC

Hi so I have been awarded a maintenance loan due to disability by SFE for my second year of studying with the open university, I had to get my drs to fill in my medical declaration to get the maintenance loan.

I receive UC for me, my partner and 2 out of the 4 children and the two children that are on the UC both receive DLA and I get PIP, me and my partner both receive a careers element on UC also, will UC take my maintenance loan back £1 for £1?

This doesn’t seem right because if I use it to buy laptop, stationery etc then what will my children and partner have to live off? Also I read somewhere that if it’s a maintenance loan due to disability they don’t take off UC.

Can anyone help with this?

Hi there, You would need to discuss this with UC, as student finance have no control on benefits being deducted due to funding awarded. Thanks, Angela
