Clearing & Waitlisting

Okay so, I just really need to put this somewhere to know if i’m being unreasonable or if the University is.
Before results day I applied for a transfer to a Radiography course at the university i’m currently enrolled in ( doing a foundation year)
they emailed back and said that it was great, they’d consider it and get back to me the end of last week to discuss an interview time.
Fast forward to today, i hadn't heard anything, so i called the admissions team just to ask what was going on, and they let me know that all clearing spaces are now filled up and there was nothing i could do except apply again in 2025.
For me, this is really frustrating for obvious reasons, number one, i’m already enrolled in this university so i would either waste a year doing a course i’m not interested in, or have to pull out for a year and attend again next September. I was also under the assumption that they were giving me an interview so i did not bother to call any other universities to ask for transfer, and they did not give me the option of being waitlisted so i’ve emailed them asking if this would be a possibility, but surely if i had emailed them before results day i should be one of the first in line to be considered for clearing ? Please help because i really don’t know where to go from here

I'm sorry to hear that this has happened to you - I'm sure this is very frustrating and confusing.
If I was you, I would forward the email you received regarding an interview to the admissions team at the university and explain what has happened. You have in writing that they were willing to transfer you to this course and provide you with an interview, and so it's unfair if they don't grant you this opportunity.

Thank you for your advice !! In the meantime since posting this i did actually contact the course lead who replied pretty much instantly in a much nicer manner than the admissions team. I’m hoping even if i don’t get waitlisted or an interview i at least get a nicer explanation on how this has happened😅. Fingers crossed the course leads are able to sort this out

Sorry to hear that this has happened that is quite tough. As @WrexhamUniReps have said I would recommend emailing the admissions team for that university with the previous email attached where they had said that they would get back to you for an interview as there may have been some missed communication somewhere.

I had a phonecall with the admissions team where they had just completely shut me down and were very very rude over the phone when i asked about an update on the interview.the admissions process for this uni was very messy last year as well so i can’t really say it surprises me much. The email she sent clearly states they would be contacting me for an interview so for them to take it back like that is really crushing. I am waiting for the course leads to look into this now, and will try and contact the admissions team again tomorrow .
