Advice for Beginner's Arabic???

Heya - so I am starting French and Arabic at UCL and SOAS this September and starting Arabic ab initio so would like to get some good beginner's books to help me. Any advice on what books would be helpful to start for alphabet and scripture as well as general language and culture for the course? Any Advice in General would be great!
