DT NEA Educational Toys and Games

Hey! I've chosen educational toys and games for my context for my NEA and I must say I have a lot of ideas. The only issue is that most of my ideas involve work done on the laser cutter which concerns me as I won't have much of a chance to show a wide range of skills. I feel like if I use wood which I need to cut by hand I'll be massively limited in the shapes I can make a features I can include so does anyone have any advice? I'm struggling sm D;

Hi there, the thing Abt using the laser cutter for most elements of your design is that you can only cut thin bits of materials using it which can result in quite a bit of a disadvantage to the structure and strength of the product as thin materials tend to snap quite easily especially when handled by children whereas cut. By hand wood stuff would be a decent thickness. You could make some small features using a laser cutter which wouldn't impact the strength much however for the larger part of the product I would highly advise you to cut out wood by hand. ( I am also doing my NEA in educational toys and games and I am not planning on using the laser cutter).
