Not Eligible for SFE postgrad loan

Hi there,

I applied for my postgraduate loan a few months back. I was told I was ineligible because my old university had my BSc ending next year. They rectified this by sending a change of circumstance which I was told had been worked. I then received a letter saying I've suspended my studies; however I have graduated. I phoned SFE again, and they said it had been incorrectly worked their end and they'll need time to rectify this, however I'd have to wait x amount of working days before it's worked, and then x amount of working days to get sent back to the postgrad team. Later that evening, I received 3 emails to say my application had been worked and corrected so I can go back on and see the outcome. I did so only to be shown the same ineligible screen. I phoned back and they told me the undergrad team had fixed the issue and changed my graduation date to correctly show my graduation and I have to wait x amount of days before the postgrad team pick the case back up. That's passed and I'm honestly sick of phoning back and being told to wait. My enrolment for my university is literally a couple of weeks away, and I need confirmation of SFE funding to do so.

But another issue is I need to apply for DSA as I'm a disabled student, but I can't do this until they confirm my application.

Honestly what can I do? I don't like being a **** on the phone as I know how it is the other end, but I'm really getting frustrated by the bouncing of departments/information. Is there someone else I can turn to/request who can look at it?

Cheers.

Hi Lewis, Sorry to hear of the lengthy process you have had regarding correcting the undergraduate application. Where you advised of the date the the Postgraduate referral was raised? Thanks, Angela

I was originally said the 3rd of August and then this week. But I’ve phoned so many times and been told a few different things I just don’t know what to do. If I phone today, they’ll likely tell me to wait again or something different than the individual on the 9th.

Hi Lewis, Was your account referred to be reviewed? Currently the timescales have increased, we do normally advise 5 working days but this is taking up to 15. Thanks, Angela

Yes I believe so, they told me they’d refer it back to be worked. I’m happy to wait, but it seems that’s all I do and then I find out somethings gone wrong and it’ll take longer. My enrolment date is soon, can I choose SFE even if it’s not been confirmed? Because I’ve been waiting so long, what do I do about DSA? I’m essentially stuck in a sinking hole with no ladder to get out. I applied for SFE early to get my DSA sorted as their timeline is 3ish months start to finish, which is now longer as SFE can’t work it.

Is there a way to get this expedited? I really don’t want to be a pain and complain, but it’s getting far too frustrating as I’ve committed everything in accommodation and what not.

Hi Lewis, We don't have any fast track service available during our peak processing times. You can still submit the application for DSA, the form can be located on the Gov.uk website. Thanks, Angela

Okay, no worries. Thanks for your help! Can I still select SFE funding if it’s not yet confirmed?
