The Student Room Group

Southampton wessex lane

Just got allocated a standard shared room in wessex lane. I have seen that the kitchens are quite small on photos and not many places to sit. Could a student there tell me their thoughts on the shared accommodation here please?
i found the accommodation at wessex really nice! kitchens are a bit small but it tends to work out. i was ensuite cat 2 and shared bathroom cat 1 (this is the ensuite one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLDnVwy9U3Q&pp=ygULd2Vzc2V4IGxhbmU%3D) and (this is the non ensuite one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daeFBkW5RUg&t=424s)

Thank you, that's really helpful!! Also quick question, do all standard shared bathroom rooms have a wash basin?

Hey @mollyejc !

Like Saskia, I was in standard room with ensuite bathroom and shared kitchen. Yes the kitchen is quite small but you often find ways it works out alright. In my flat, people where always in and out at different times, so I was only really in the kitchen at the same time as one or two other people most of the time, sometimes three. My flatmates also didn't use the hob much (a lot of uni students don't cook a lot of fresh food lol), and some preferred to eat their meals in their rooms. You can probably fit about 6 people around the table although it might be a bit tight, but for social events there's room for a few more, often people brought their desk chairs into the kitchen for extra seating! If you do want a large group thing, there is the Boiler House, the communal space at Wessex Lane which is next to the laundry block.

Overall I still really enjoyed living in Wessex Lane, I hope this helps!
