Ucat

I started sixth form thinking medicine/ dentistry is something I could pursue. But mainly because of pressure to become a doctor.I've finished my 1st year, and in my mocks I got BBD, I know its awful.I've lost all senses of direction in the first year. However, I have been preparing for the UCAT, since I thought that I genuinely want to do medicine.A day after my renewal of the 2nd months modify subscription, I pondered whether medicine is what I genuinely want to do but idk. It'd be cool to be a surgeon but I don't have the academic drive anymore.I've been looking into Biochem/finance and they seem pretty cool.Do you think I should still take the UCAT, even with the grades? Also, am I able to get a refund from the renewal of my modify subscription if I drop the UCAT?

I think if you’re trying to do medicine because you’re pressured by someone, it’s the wrong reason. You absolutely have to want to do it, get the grades for it, etc. to actually be able to make it. It’s hard , which is why it isn’t for everyone. You need to have constant academic drive, to be honest. Maybe see if you want to pursue biochem/finance because you seem genuinely interested in these subjects? Of course, if you do end up doing medicine or anything else I wish you luck.
1. I don’t think you have the grades to get into finance as it is hard to get into (I think you need AAA for most of the unis)
2. Take a gap year and try to work experience in medicine and finance etc. so you can see if you like it or not. Also people also don’t love every part of medicine so if you don’t like just one part then it’s fine
3. If you have no motivation to do medicine then don’t do it but if you want to be a surgeon then go for it. But you have to have good grades in Uni to have a chance of
becoming a surgeon. So…. If you don’t have motivation to study then don’t do medicine

Finally hope this helps 😁
