Will I be at a disadvantage if I miss the first weekend of uni?
I’m going to Loughborough Uni in September, and I have to come back home on the Friday evening because I have my Taekwondo grading that weekend. I’ll be back by Saturday evening, but I’m worried it will impact on my freshers experience, or am I thinking it’s a bigger deal than it actually is?

I don't think it will impact your experience as there will probably not be anything academic on the Saturday and there are a lot of other opportunities to make new friends during freshers week.

As long as you are there for the actual induction week it shouldn't make a difference.
Just check to make sure your move in/check in date for your accommodation isn't over the weekend!
