what course should i study?

I was accepted into lboro to study computer science with a foundation year but i really wanted to do a year abroad/placement year but 5 years is just too much for me. I’ve been looking on ucas and seen that I can apply for information technology management for business with this course i’ll only send 4 years at uni or should i just stick with computer science as its a ‘better’ course??

Hi @qaws4

The extra year can seem like a lot when you think about it as a total five years. But coming from someone who had a four year course altogether (including a foundation) I'm already going into my final year and the time has flown by. But I understand your concern.

My advice would be to choose the course you like the sound of the most and which one aligns best with your current career aspirations. The extra time in education can feel overwhelming, but if you're enjoying your course and where it can lead you, it'll feel worth it in the end. Maybe weigh up the course content and unis first, and then consider the length of the course as a secondary factor and see if this impacts your decision.

Hope this helps.

Why is 5 years 'too long'.

I just feel as though it would be too much student debt and would prefer to graduate before the age of 23

Study Abroad is something you will remember for the rest of your life - and the experiences will add enormously to your graduate CV. Its definitely worth the extra year,
