HELP !!!!!! Given wriiten offer in clearing then told no spaces

Hi all - I was hoping that someone with admissions knowledge could provide some guidance in my current situation which has been incredibly stressful. Sorry for the long story but basically I applied through clearing last week Thursday for a course and was offered an interview online and was told that i was successful. Shortly after I received an email confirming an offer of a place on the course. and immediately added the uni to my clearing choices following all the steps on UCAS track. I kept an eye on the portal for the rest of the day and it stated that it was awaiting confirmation from the uni . The next morning (Friday) I received another email from the uni confirming my offer of the place. At the time I wasn’t overly concerned that the UCAS portal still said the same thing 'awaiting confirmation'. As the uni had an open day for clearing students I decided to pop down the next day. I spoke to the admissions team about fact the portal didn’t seem updated and then eventually spoke to a senior admission person at the relevant school. The individual told me that my place had not been confirmed and that I should not been given an offer. As there were no places there was nothing that could be done and course entry was on first come first serve basis !!!!!
I was in complete shock and tried to show the email offer i received and explained why would i be put through an interview and receive email offers if there were no course places !!!! - I was given the option of an unconditional offer for next year and because I was so stressed out and in tears I just accepted this. I contacted UCAS today who checked the history and gave me all the timings of when I added the uni etc and I did everything I could on time and met all the requirements for the course entry. The UCAS officer said that this was incredibly rare and the uni should be honouring the original offer (24 entry). I am really not sure where I stand and whether it is worth making an appeal /taking legal advice - of course I am completely distraught as I didn’t think I would be in this position- but also wondering whether its worth the hassle and don’t want myself labelled as trouble maker if I end up joining the course next year. Anyone with a similar experience and an idea of what to do, your thoughts would be really appreciated it just seems I have been treated really unfairly with some poor excuses given by the uni as clearly this is their fault. Thanks for reading

Which university was this?

What status does your Hub state right now?

If you have the emails confirming the offer then you should be able to pressure them into honouring what they stated.

Look for the university admissions policy and formal complaints procedure within it and put in a complaint in writing along the process described in the admissions policy. Include a timeline and the evidence of the emails you received.
