Can my girlfriend skip her foundation year if she got higher than needed UCAS points?

My girlfriend got into a foundation year at Liverpool Hope, and got UCAS points over what they expected her to get (they asked for 72, and she got 88) and she’s really upset that she’s doing a foundation year and all the friends she’s made online isn’t.

To cut to the chase, I saw a post on here (for a different Uni mind you) that there may be a way for her to skip her foundation year because she did better than the requested UCAS points.

What I’d like to know, is if that would be possible, and what steps she should take to try and take part in the first year classes like everyone else.

Try and see if the course your girlfriend is doing at Liverpool is in clearing, if it is then call the uni and try apply for first year. If not you can always just call the uni and explain the situation and hope for the best! Good luck to your girlfriend!
Has she ASKED hope if that’s an option?

There’s no need to use clearing to swap courses at your firm choice

Hi @thxmill

I would suggest that she calls up the university and explain that she has got more UCAS points than she had expected and would like to go straight onto the course without a foundation year. Did she achieve the amount of UCAS points she would need for the course without a foundation year? If so this should be an easy swap.

I hope this helps 🙂

Does she have enough UCAS points to go directly onto the 1st year? 🙂 As others have said, she needs to speak to the uni as only they can make the decision. They could have made the decision for multiple reasons but only they will know.
