2025 Pharmacy Question

Hey guys i was hoping to recieve some sort of advice on my grades. I am really under the boat at the moment and would truly appreciate any help. I am hoping to apply to pharmacy this year with grades 5’s and 6’s in GCSE’s.

To boost my GCSE mathemetics grade I have re-sat it thrice with grades 5,4,5 each time. I believe these slacking grades are a result of me being unorginised and not prioritising my GCSE alongside my A levels as i found them more important. I was predicted AAA.

I am now a retake student for y12 predicted AAB with different A-levels, and an additional EPQ, however i don’t believe i stand a chance against other applicants as the course is highly competitive and i look quite silly.

I have the relevant experience in pharmacy and in retail plus care, however i am unsure as to whether my application would even be considered with such an unreasonable amount of resits.

Any advice would be so truly appreciated, im really upset as i have always been incredibly passionate in persuing a degree in pharmacy, but i believe this has put me at a disadvantage.

I was hoping to apply to universities close to home, including University of Nottingham, University of Bradford, University of Huddersfield and University of Liecster.

Hi @zaranoorrrzbsj

Here at Nottingham the requirements for the course are as follows:

A levels

AAB, including chemistry and at least one further science A level from biology, maths or physics

A pass in the practical element of science subjects is required if assessed separately

The third A level can be any subject apart from general studies, critical thinking, citizenship studies, global perspectives and research or thinking skills which are not accepted

GCSEs

Maths 5 (B) or above

English 5 (B) or above

After this an interview is also a requirement known as an MMI (multiple mini interviews) to assess whether you’d be a good applicant for the course

Doing resits shouldn’t affect your chance of being offered an interview, as long as your grades match the above, as far as I’m aware!

I hope this helps

Only London Unis are silly-competitive - which is daft because it doesnt matter where you do MPharm. All the degrees are the same, they are all accredited by the GPhC and none are 'better' than any other.

Apply to out-of-London Unis where you meet the entry requirements and you'll be fine. As an example, Bath interviews everyone who meets the entry requirements and they make offers to 99% of those.
