Support with 2025 Undergraduate Options (Finance)

Hi there,

I'm applying for Uni entry 2025 in a couple months and I'm still a little bit worried about my current choices. I'm not sure if I'm being too AGGRESSIVE, maybe I should have more of an insurance option?

1. London School of Economics ( Financial Maths & Stats) (A*AA)
2. Uni College London (UCL) (Statistics, Econ, Finance) (A*AA)
3. Uni of Nottingham (Financial Maths) (A*AA)
4. Durham Uni (Finance) (AAB) (Is this too much? I was thinking something like Financial Maths at Heriot-Watt Uni instead?? (AAB)
5. University of Leeds (Financial Maths) (AAB/A*BB)

My current predicted grades are: A*A*A*A but before I apply I may be able to bump up to A*A*A*A*

I am doing Maths, Further Maths, Business and Computer Science A-Levels. I doubt I will get anything lower than an A in Maths & Further Maths, and Business.

What do you guys think? Should I swap something like Durham Uni to a less competitive uni?

Thank you so much!

I think given your high grades having the Leeds at AAB is probably fine enough as an insurance, given the type of institutions you are applying to, applying to a much lowered that you are less interested in may be a waste of time if the grade offer isnt below that of Leeds or Durham in this case. If you are to swap out Duhram to have a better chance of getting an offer or to have an insurance in case your exams go wrong maybe try and apply to a course that has ABB grade requirement instead or just stick with Duhram

Hi @kevinapetrei!

Your predicted grades look very strong indeed!

You may have a "safer" option to account for unexpected circumstances. I think your options are fantastic, and in the event that things go catastrophically wrong you can always have a look into clearing once you have your results.

All the best,
Abián.

Hey @kevinapetrei 👋

Your predicted grades are very impressive, I hope you achieve these!

I think that Durham and Leeds suffice as great insurance choices based on your predicted grades.

Besides, as @UoN Students have mentioned, you always have the option to look into other options through clearing if your exams don't go to plan.

Best of luck with your A-levels!😀

Hi

Just wondering about your choices. Any reason for Durham? It’s a very different course to the others. Have you considered MORSE at Warwick?

Hey there, Durham is meant to be more of an "insurance" choice based on grades. Leeds is probably the safest option for me since Durham may be picky.

I've looked at MORSE @ Warwick. I'm interested in financial and derivative markets so I'd prefer a course that is more geared towards that, however I'm very keen on the statistics/mathematics aspects of that course.
