Made application by post but haven't heard back

Hello @SFE , how long do you take to respond to post applications for doctoral loan? Also is there any way to apply for 2021-22 entry year online, if that will be quicker? This is my first time applying but my first academic year is 2021-22.

Hi there,

So you want to apply for the 2021/22 academic year? Are you applying for an Undergraduate or Postgraduate course? Why are you wanting to apply so late?

Thanks, Drew

Hi Drew, I am applying for the doctoral loan and I am applying now because of changes in personal circumstances but also I was not aware of the doctoral loan scheme at the time I started the course.

Hi Anaelis,

The deadline to make an application is 9 months after the start of the academic year so we are quite some time beyond that now. You would need to send us a paper application with a cover letter explaining why you are applying so late. If you were not aware there was a Doctoral loan this may not be sufficient.

Thanks,
Calum

Hi Callum, my understanding is that you can apply for a doctoral loan at any stage of the doctoral programme, is this correct? OR are you saying applicants can only apply for the loan until 9 month after the first year that the programme started? Is the doctoral loan only available to people that applied at the beginning of their programme or is it available throughout the programme?

Hi there,

Just to clarify, yes - for a Doctoral Loan the deadline is 9 months after the start of the final academic year.

The website won't let you make a 21/22 application just because it's a past academic year. Have you been provided with the paper form instead?

Thanks, Graeme
