materials science at lboro and imperial

hey guys im applying for materials science & eng this year and i'm a bit concerned about my grades
my current predicteds are AAD with the D in physics, and my first choice uni is lboro but their requirements are AAA, would I still be able to get an offer? I saw on the ucas website that the most common grades for that course is BBB so surely I'd get an offer?
Also, I know it's a longshot but if I was to get AAB in my september mocks, is there a chance I could get an offer from Imperial even though their requirement is AAA? My personal statement is really good, I got it checked by a member of the Imperial admissions department and she said that it's really good and unique and had basically nothing to change.

I think they could potentially accept an AAB during your mocks and they defo would if u were eligible for a contextual offer I think you can give it a try and even during ur real exam season u probably would be able to go through clearing if u lower grades than expected I hope this made sense I am typing in a rush
Unfortunately Imperial is very competitive and you should definitely be meeting the requirements. They will definitely not be fine with a D in physics. I'd recommend trying your best to get that grade up.

yeahh thats what i was thinking because for the past like 3 years I've been seeing the materials course at lboro on clearing, but i heard that you should avoid clearing at all costs

no clearing is there for a reason because when students don’t get the grades or want to change their course they can apply through clearing I applied through clearing and got in. I wouldn’t say u need avoid clearing at all costs because I don’t see why u shudnt apply through clearing however what I wud say is that if the uni is competitive then u shud avoid clearing
You have until January to put in some serious work, and raise your grades - its totally doable if you want Imperial and L'borough badly enough.
