Law at BCU

I’m currently going to become a student at BCU to do Law with Business Law.
I was wondering how that would go and if there’s any advice?
Is the opportunities to do Law at BCU different to if it were a Law Russell Group university?

BCU was in Clearing and only asked for DDD i.e. 66 points. So it is not as reputable as Russell Group universities which rarely enter UCAS Clearing. However, you will get a decent Law degree at BCU. Also, BCU has an optional placement year and if you get it, you will get a training contract with a law firm for sure. 🙂

OP, thegeek888 hasn't applied to or attended any university. He probably means well, but he is hardly in a position to comment on the law degree at BCU or anywhere else, or on your chances of obtaining a legal career.

Any law graduate can be competitive when seeking employment, but the blunt reality is that candidates who have attended universities with higher entry requirements may be more competitive than those who attended universities which are less demanding. This is partly because the former group of universities often have better resources and can attract better staff, and partly because of the peer group which each student operates within. It is easier to do well when you are surrounded by other hard working and academically successful students than it is when the peer group is less committed and the general academic standard is lower.

If you work hard and do well you can still have a crack at legal jobs, but obviously be realistic in your aspirations and mindful of the competition. Best of luck.
I add the general observation that some people fluff their A levels (for whatever reason) and don't get to their desired university, but flourish later in life. A levels and university admission are not a one-shot chance for success.
