University of Birmingham Partner Accommodation

I was very unaware of the whole accommodation process for Birmingham and didn’t apply when I initially got my offer, so today I booked a room late and it’s in Queens Hospital Close which is a partner accommodation near the city centre. I wanted to be on the Vale to be with the other freshers in a sociable environment, but anywhere within the three villages would’ve been fine - I just didn’t want to resort to partner accommodation, which is unfortunately what happened. Is there a way to switch where I’ll be living, and if not, can someone let me know what the partner accommodations are like in terms of the demographic of people there, the social aspect etc ?
Any advice is appreciated

Hi @cereal_killer_4

I lived at Queens Hospital Close during my first year and really enjoyed living there.
When I was there Host organised events throughout the year to help students to get to know each other - this included a quiz night at the start of the year! There was also groups of people who would go out together, especially during the first couple of weeks when everyone was meeting new people.

QHC is in a really convenient location - it is about a 5 minute walk away from Broad Street, about 20 minutes to the city centre, and about 5 minutes to the nearest train station.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about living at Queens Hospital Close!

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply !! Do you know what kind of students live there typically ? Im going to be a student at UoB, will it mainly be other fresher UoB students or students from all years from different universities in Birmingham ?
Also, is it a big accommodation ? Not in terms of room size but in terms of the amount of people living there.
Thanks in advance

Hi @cereal_killer_4

I know that there were students from different universities there last year including BCU and UoB however I am not sure of the numbers of each. It was mainly first years however there were also some second and third years living there.

I think there are about 300 students that live there. I liked this amount because there were always people around but it also did not feel busy.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Sorry for the late response, I don’t use this app often. Have you got it sorted? If not I’d be happy to let you know what I did !

I actually managed to swap my accom to one in pritchatts park, but if I were you I wouldn’t worry - while I was still assigned to queens hospital close I spoke to lots of people who also had been assigned there and they seemed very fun. What’s your snap (if you use it) ? There’s a UoB group chat on Snapchat and a couple people there are going to queens hospital close
We can swap regardless though ! What’s your instagram ?

Also there’s a big group on WhatsApp with a subgroup for every accom including queens, but the queens subgroup doesn’t seem active, ill give you a link if you want and if you’re brave enough you can message 😭

Hey, would you mind posting that Whatsapp group on here? I’m going to Broderick House IQ this September and want to see if I can contact others there.
