Uni of York welcome week tickets

Does anyone know if the welcome week tickets are worth it (from the official uni)? they’re going on sale next week i think but are these similar to the freshers wristbands everyone’s saying not to buy lol? just because it’s obvs not a scam since it’s from the university but i still don’t know if it would be a waste of money

Hi they're definitely worth buying as it's the official uni freshers week. You'll buy the one for your college who organise the fancy dress theme and which clubs on which nights, so literally everyone in your flat/college will be going to the same events. Your flat will also be assigned STYCS (second and third years from your college) who organise pres with you and take you on the bus to the club events for those who want to go.

Hi Caitlin,

I agree with phh03, the official welcome week tickets from the University of York student's union are definitely worth buying. You'll buy the specific one for your college (I don't think these are on sale just yet) and this will cover entry to college-run events, a 'Freshers' t-shirt and other college merch. You should receive details via email from your college of when you can buy tickets, how much they'll cost and what they'll include. The tickets to avoid buying are those sold by unofficial sources.
