Help regarding returning to University

Hi,
I dropped out of university for health reasons in June and am now in a position where I would like to make plans for trying to return to University, I originally did a Nursing degree with a Foundation year which is a 4 year course and passed year 0 and 1, I then had to take a leave of absence in year 2, and then I had to repeat year 2 again on a part time basis to make up extra hours.
This means my time at uni was:
Year 0 Pass
Year 1 pass
Year 2 LOA
Year 2 Repeat
Year 2 Leave
I applied for and received an extra year on my last time due to compelling personal reasons, so if I understand correctly at the moment I have one year of funding available to me, would it be possible to apply for compelling personal reasons again? If so would I be able to ask the university to provide the results of their Health and Conduct committee that recommended my withdrawal to back this up?

Hi there,

Can you please tell us what kind of course you're thinking of studying now?

Thanks, Graeme

Hi there,

What year would you be returning to? Would this still be full time or part time?

Thanks,
Claire

Ideally it would be full-time from year 2 where I left off.

Every student is entitled to funding for the length of their course plus one additional year, minus any previous study. This means if your course is 4 years and you have previous studied 4 years, and 1 of them you used CPR, the calculation would be 4+1=5-3=2 years of finance left given in the final years of your course. Nothing would be definite till you apply and the team can review this.

If you have Compelling Personal Reasons evidence (CPR) why you didn't complete your course, you can send this to se if its possible to get another year of finance. The evidence would be a letter on headed paper signed/stamped and dated from someone in profession i.e. Doctor/lecturer who knows the CPR. They must know how it affected your studies and the dates it affected you. Once received it will be up to the assessor if this will be accepted or not.

Thanks,
Claire

Thanks, last of all, do you intend to return to the same course at the same university?

Thanks, Graeme

Hi DaBushWookie,

I would advise you to refer to my colleague Claire's guidance above, nothing is definite until you make an application and decide what course/year of study you are doing however so I would advise to make an application so our assessment team can review your eligibility.

Thanks,
Calum
