Options

I chose Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Core Maths to study at A-Level, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to reach the entry requirements for the Geography course as I completely messed up on the first 2 papers. Never got below a 7 in Geography in mocks but it happens.

Anyway, I still keep my place at the college if I don't meet the entry requirements for a course, but I'd have to change the course I didn't get the grades for - problem is, I have absolutely no idea what to pick.

I was considering psychology or maths, but psychology is very oversubscribed at the college I'm going to, and I'd be scared that maths just wouldn't come naturally to me at a higher level as I've never been too good at maths (though it somehow just clicked near the end of Y11).

College offers quite a wide range of subjects and other than Geography, I'll most likely meet the entry requirements needed for any other subject I'd want to study, so unfortunately for me and my incapable-of-decisionmaking brain - it's quite an open book.

I'm an creative person, quite like data and statistics, can draw, play a few instruments, play volleyball, love science and I quite like being up and doing something rather than sitting around. I'll stop there because this is starting to sound like a description on a dating app - but I'm just looking for subject suggestions based on the things I enjoy, because I don't have a career path that I'm set on going down yet.

I wouldn’t advise taking maths if you’re not really interested in it and it doesn’t come intuitively to you.
Psychology sounds like a good option if you manage to get a place on the course.
If you like sports and prefer ‘doing’ maybe PE could be an option as it has some science-y bits in the theory?
If you play some instruments could music be an option? Obviously you would need to be able to read music proficiently, write about pieces at length, compose stuffs etc
What courses did you enjoy at GCSE?
Is environmental science or geology (both have some perhaps limited similarity to geography i think) an option for you if you cannot take geography?
Your results might be better than you expect, they often are so look at a few options and see if you can still do geography tomorrow, if not ask your sixth what other courses are available to you. Best of luck :smile:

Thank you! I quite enjoyed the sciences and maths at GCSE (when I eventually understood it) and ended up hating my options because I felt that I performed worst overall in them, and this included geography. So I think I'm going to switch either way if I have the chance to. I think I'll try my luck at psychology and go from there :smile:
