You are not shutting any options down by doing certain subjects. You can take additional A-levels or qualifications at any time in your life. Do subjects you think you will enjoy, find interesting and will be motivated doing. If you still don't know what you want to do with life after A-levels, consider taking a gap year or a few years out to figure that out before you spend your one chance at university.

Good luck for tomorrow!

I did psychology and geography and my friend did geography and economics so I know of economics and how it does overlap with geography and geography over laps with psychology a bit but they are both heavy content and all involve essays I think they are similar enough in that sense I did biology lots of people do really well with the first year and struggle to keep up with the content I wouldn’t recommend business and I wouldn’t recommend doing a science like chem bc that’s really specific geography is broad compared to the rest in terms of knowledge (sorry for rambling)if you don’t like course work don’t pick geography because of the NEA and business is most course work and you have real exams in first year

i’d recommend picking at least two STEM subject as you can apply to any course with it. This can be either biology, chemistry, physics, maths, computer science, economics or psychology. personally I would pick one subject that I would generally enjoy and the other two subjects being between biology, chemistry and maths as majority of degrees require at least one of those three subjects. hope this helps

What are your (broad) future goals? What subjects did you enjoy best and do best in at GCSE, what things interest you both inside and outside of school?

I wouldn't suggest STEM subjects unless the person is actually motivated for those, enjoys them, and does well in them. As if not then getting e.g. BC in two of their subjects because they took things they haven't the interest in or aptitude for will ultimately make it harder to get into a university course of interest.

It's also not a majority of degrees that require any of those subjects, it's only specifically STEM degrees that do. Also neither economics nor psychology are STEM subjects in essentially any framework.

Finally I'd also point out there isn't any reason to prioritise a STEM degree over a non-STEM degree (and hence, STEM A-levels over non-STEM A-levels) as research has found in the UK graduates from both STEM and non-STEM degrees have equivalent career and salary outcomes within 10 years of graduation:

Heyyy! I've just finished Year 13 and I did this exact combination of a levels. I loved my subjects so much because I feel like they are a wide variety that gets you a spread of knowledge in lots of different areas. However, each of them cover little parts in the other subjects so you are constantly recapping which is nice. I would deffo recommend this combination. Message me if you need anything x

hi i’m in a similar position i just finished year 11 and not sure what subjects to take for a level. I’m not so sure what career path I want, just something that makes good money and is respectful. I want to keep my options open, at the moment I’ve decided on economics and psychology as 2 of my subjects, just not sure for the third one, any advice?
And I know Maths would be a great subject but unfortunately i’m not a maths person so this wouldn’t work for me.

I know this wasn’t directed at me but i would recommend doing Biology if you want to keep some stem options open and you might wanna go into psych as doing bio and psych means you have two sciences and means you could do a degree in something like psychology, ecology, some bio sci degrees etc. But ofc only pick it if it interests you- this is just what I thought would keep the most options open in the subjects you picked because for psych you’ll probably need biology and for econ maths is the best but if you dont enjoy that then dont take it
